Snoopy vs God
i just read an article from RBC (my favourite web/reading material), the title at the side of the website captured me ---> "Snoopy". at the same time, my friend oso write something about snoopy in his blog recently, is tis cartoon so inspired? ok let see it..
FOR 50 YEARS, cartoonist Charles Schulz gave us pictures of ourselves wrapped in a smile. One of the last strips I clipped from our Sunday paper showed Snoopy the dog sitting on top of his doghouse with a typewriter, writing about his life. He titled his story . . .
The Dog Who Never Did Anything
Snoopy remembers it this way, "You stay home now," they said, "and be a good dog."
So he stayed home and was a good dog.
Then he decided to be even a better dog. So he barked at everyone who went by. And he even chased the neighbor's cats.
"What's happened to you?" they said. "You used to be such a good dog."
So he stopped barking and chasing cats, and everyone said, "You're a good dog."
The moral, as Snoopy typed it, is "Don't do anything and you'll be a good dog."
As I turned the smile around in my mind, I noticed a quirk of the English language. Snoopy and God have something in common. They are related not only by alphabet (dog and god), but by what "creatures in the middle" expect of them. The idea intrigued me enough to try another version.
The God Who Never Did Anything
"You give me what I want now," they said, "and be a good God."
So He gave them what they wanted and He was a good God.
Then He decided to be an even better God.
He started knocking over the furniture of other gods, and He used pain to help people in ways they could not understand.
"What's happened to You?" they said.
"You used to be such a good God."
So He stopped knocking over the furniture of other gods, and He stopped using pain in ways that were beyond people's ability to understand.
And everyone said, "You're a good God."
The moral, as angels might see it, "Stop acting like God and people will think You're good."
The God We Want
Many of us imagine God as we want Him to be. To our wishes we add expectation. We expect Him to encourage us when we are afraid, to comfort us when we're hurt, to forgive us when we fail, and to give us what we think we need when we think we need it.
Yet, along the way, we keep stumbling into the awareness that the King of Heaven is more apt to come to us in His own style, time, and mystery. He is seldom as we imagine Him to be. He is more like the God who reveals Himself in the pages of His own history.
There He comes to us in the unexpected surprises of joy, in the unwanted nights of our misery, and in the solitary sounds of our own loneliness. He comes to us in the unexpected joys of Adam, in the numbed grief of Eve, in the inconsolable tears of the childless Hannah, in the murderous anger of Moses, and in the madness of a powerful Nebuchadnezzar.
But me? Until He responds, I'd rather have it my way. In the moments of my dissatisfaction, I don't want to have to wait for what I want. I want it now. Now. I'll pray. I'll pay. I'll bargain. I'll crawl on my knees. But I want God to prove that He is good—right now.
The God Who Has Been Good
Even in our "maturity" we can be like 2- and 3-year-olds pulling at the pant leg of heaven. Our Father isn't surprised. He knows how to raise physical, emotional, and spiritual toddlers. He knows how to run with us in our youth, and how to walk with us at 74, 84, and 94.
And for those who go further, He is still there, hearing once again our whimpers in the night, and reaching down with the affection of an adoring mother who carefully lifts her children from their crib to herself.
No, He has not always been the kind of parent we wanted Him to be. Yes, He has been good on His terms rather than on ours. He has not answered our prayers in the way we asked. Seldom has He allowed anything to play out according to our own expectations or childish demands. Yet His determination to lead us in the paths of His own choosing is what has made Him so good.
The God Who Will Be Good
The promise of tomorrow comes with the wrinkled snapshots of yesterday. Even though our memories are not as sharp as we'd like them to be, and even though the happy times are mixed with regret, our albums contain memories of a God who keeps reminding us that He is better than our expectations. He is better than our demands. He is better than anything this life has to offer.
If He allowed a relationship to be lost, He stayed with us to remind us that we weren't made for one another as much as we were made for Him. As our bodies give way to time, they become painful reminders that we were not made for these bodies. We were made for the One who said from the top of a thundering, burning mountain—to a people huddled in the middle of a life-threatening wilderness—"I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me."
This is the God who, because He is good, refuses to "stay home and do nothing."
Father, thank You for a man named Charles Schulz who brought us elements of truth amid our smiles. Thank You for being God on Your terms rather than ours. May Your name be hallowed as we wait on You. May Your kingdom be reflected in our patience. May Your will be done in our disappointments. Please, give us this day our daily bread.
interesting.. inspiring..

My Visual DNA
Grace_K Personality:
Mood -> DREAMER
The kick of the city appeals to you like nothing else - it makes you feel alive. You can see beauty in the most inhospitable environments. You are street smart and quite self-assured. When it comes to art, you appreciate natural beauty. You take time to soak up the nature favouring the coastline and countryside to the city galleries. As for music, it's soundtrack to your world. An open road, your favourite tracks - clichs are there to be enjoyed! Your choice of treat reveals either real exhaustion, or may be a bit of laziness? Either way you're never happier than when you are rugged, and snuggled up, eye shut.
Fun -> CONQUEROR
Life is exhausting and you never seem to get enough rest - poor thing! Working hard or playing hard, you just have to get some more rest. For kicks nothing beats and adrenalin rush. You like to take risks and push limits. You're confident and brave - life is for the living. When it comes to holidays, you like to explore and immerse yourself in another culture. Always on the go, you take in a much as you can. You find it hard to switch off, as you like to learn all the time. What grosses you out? You favour the natural look and can't stand a pumped and plumped, plastic appearance.
Habits -> HIGH TIME ROLLER
You never have enough rest - either you're too busy, exhausted or perhaps just a little lazy? Either way your snooze is your best friend, and at times your worse enemy! Ah yes, the odd glass of wine - or two - nothing beats it. After a long day you like to curl up and unwind. Nothing beats relaxing the shoulders, loosening that tongue and letting the day go by. As for the home, you are traditional: you invest in quality and history. You like you home to be as stylish as you are.
Love -> HOME SOUL
You're a real home soul. You care deeply about family life and all that comes with it, the love between a parent and child is so special. When you think of freedom, you think of technology providing you with the links to communicate wherever you are. Opening more doors.
saw tis test in one of my fren's blog, it's interesting so had a try n post it here...mm.. quite true..

Sunday Dinner
not father's day, not mother's day not even anyone's bday, just another dinner on Sunday, my family dun eat at home on weekend, so we go out and eat. i realize tat we know how to enjoy life even more, tis week we went to Little Vietnam, Mid Valley (under my sis' request), it's not any special nor super high class restaurant, just bcuz the food is nice, instead of eating chinese food, we went somewhere else..
i really do enjoy spending time wit family, (cuz i dun need to spend money on meal..=p *whispering*), mainly is bcuz nowadays is very hard to see whole family gather together just to spend time for no reason, there're ppl study oversea or outstation, work in some other place, have their dinner on their own or wit frens/colleague.. i appreciate them for they r my family, closest human to me, i dunno when i'll leave them or they will leave me, for watever reason or no reason but i just appreciate them whom can't been replaced by others (thou sometime i rather stay alone at home, spend time wit myself)

God Answers Prayer
i'm reading all my blogs, haha.. sounds like i have plenty of blogs.. anyway, i found out one post/entry is very interesting n inpiring, i wonder how come i didn post it here (as tis is my main/primary blog), ok, here it goes:
"16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
17Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops."
James 5:16-18
short devotion shared by my pastor during yesterday prayer meeting, is was really encouraging, all the while i was wondering how long i've not totally trust in God n rely on Him..
God answered every prayer of Elijah, when he ask for rain, there was rain, when he ask no rain, there wasn't rain. and why Elijah has such so-called power to "twiste" the hand of God? Elijah is just a normal human as you and i, God will answer our prayer if we confess our sin and being righteous. "16 ..... confess your sins to each other and pray for each other...... The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."
ya, i truly agree, sins will hinder the prayer...

I Got It
i got the job dy, really thank God! now i realize y God haven answer my prayer, my interview always failed, either it's not wat i wan, or shift work/work on weekend, or lack or experience. God really give me wat i wan n need, a job tat dun need to work on Sunday which is really hard to find in tis industry, my target salary, my dream job (some projects are movie, tis is my dream!) b4 i got tis job, i really wonder if i'm suit tis industry which always rush for project, no fix working hour, life tat no sun n moon, cuz my weekend is for God due to attending church, n i faced a lot of frustration wit my current status n my past. overall, i would say, the door seems to be closed, to human being, tis is very hard for christian work in tis industry. BUT God said, when His door is opened, no man can shut! to human, things tat impossible, to God, all things r possible. when we honor God, God wil honor us. rite here i wanna thank God for: when i wanna pursue my dream thou i dunno wat i like, wat is my passion, i just know tat i like movie/visual/performance kinda thingy, God brought me to SAE (School of Audio Engineering), n i met my god bro at the rite time (b4 tat i was studying business in other college). truely i enjoy my course. rite after i finish my course, i got a job, as studio engineer, i quite enjoy the work but not the company, collegue, n my producer, i made a lot of mistake, most of the things ran out of my expectation, i find very hard to work there, i was lost n depressed, am i working in wrong field? y all bad things seems like running after me? i was thinking to give up, look for other job, any type of job oso came into my mind, waitress, teacher, admin n etc. i just scared, i felt myself so useless, dunno where shld i go, will i forever lost? but deep in my heart, i was still curious on movie/video production, just tat i dun dare to face it due to many failure. anyhow, i learnt a lot in tis circular world,work n study is totally diff thing, the main thing is wil i still trust God. after i resign, my boss ask me if i'm interested in video editing, his fren's company is a video production company, if i haven get a job yet, i can go there n try. ofcuz i'm interested, but i still give myself a chance to work in audio field since i'm a sound student so i work in my fren's studio, doing sound for animation. but tis job stil cannot satisfy me, somemore need to get my own laptop to do the job so i quit n i go back for the video editing until now at the begining, i really frustrated, due to low salary n did a lot of unrelated work, but during tis period i really found out my dream n passion! i'm not a multimedia/filming student, but bcuz of passion, i could pick up the skill n done well. the more i work on it, the more i'm nterested in..tat's my dream.. God helped to see my dream. at the end, God bring me back to my dream, from studying sound till the next job, thou during the process, it seems ran out of track, but anything tat happen, has it's own purpose, u know wat, 1 of the reason i got the new job is bcuz i study in SAE which has a good reputation to tis company (new company), n i got experience in sound. so as long as we honor God, God will surely honor us.

Youth Alpha Introduction Night
today is our first Alpha week - Alpha Introduction Week. wat a wonderful nite we had! almost everything ran smoothly, except the F&B, tat part a bit messy, may b we didn know how's the food n drinks arrangement, but overall was great!
everyone trying out their best to do everything, smile the whole nite, very good hospitality n i saw the unity even b4 the alpha n during the alpha. can see God really bless n take care of our alpha, He provided everything we need, like: tables, we got it from my auntie, so we no need to buy; knife for chop stick which is very hard to get it from market n it's expensive, we got it from one of our young adult - Andrew, cuz he work in a bakery shop; platessss, got it from Joey's colleague who work in hotel n more, etc, etc...provided n helped by our church adult, most of all, is the diff talent from the youth n young adult, creativity, organize, commitment n so on..
most important is, we can serve in 1 heart, 1 body, 1 mind, 1 hand and 1 vision! do our best n God do the rest, we are just moving the hand of God!
video shot by Winnie (Youth Alpha Co-ordinator), thanks so much!
