Learned Something.. (new)

not really something new, but something has to be noted for my work (i know most of the ppl know it n doing it).. thank God that my recent job has gone smoothly so far thou haven approve n give final master.. i'm not a very good in communication especially speaking in english, but when i present my work, something has to b sure in order to avoid many unnecessary changes and affect my performance and work flow (eventhou i'm not good in communication but tis help.. i think):

1. always b sure wat i have and wat i dun have in terms of material (footage, stills, music and etc)
2. knowing and always prepare the reasons for wat i've done, in case client ask why is tis like tis, and not like tat
3. always rmb all the footages, it does help to explain n persuade the client tat tis is the best i've edited.. for event video, know well about their event, insert all the happening/important shots as many as i have
4. lastly, experience help knowing the temper of client

* i started loving my career, not to say i dun like last time but kinda lost, not sure if it's suitable for me.. however, the more i worked, the more movies/video i've seen, the more i like my career..

War Photographer

i watched a video which introduced by my fren, War Photographer - James Nachtwey. it's about a war photographer involved in war to shoot "the story", during war and after war. i really respect him as a pro photographer or may b a story teller, the way how he fully committed his life in photo shooting, bringing back wat he has seen thru his eye, instead of his lense (wit his dusty camera). the way he shoot, photos tat taken by him, is not about wat camera nor lense he use nor how skillful he is, but is all about wat he sees, and telling u to be aware of wat is happening around us, bcuz of tat, he shot amazing photo

i nvr have so much inspiration/interest to shoot portrait (as if i'm a pro photographer =p), as my fren realized, i like to shoot object (may b is easier to shoot n giving u wider imagination behind the object instead of people who can straight forward telling u from their expression). after seeing Nachtwey's master piece, shooting human might b easy if given opportunity but whether can grab the juice of it n stirring up ur heart.. mm..

when i watch the video, look at his photos, i wonder how he shoot when the situation was so dangerous and all tis people were so emotional, he was so near to tis ppl and they nvr bother his existence at all. then he said, he approach them, he communicate wit them.. they know wat he wanna do, they wil allow him to have his way and do their part: cry, fight, etc..

Romania, 1990 - An orphanage for " incurables".

Zimbabwe, 2000 - In a tuberculosis ward where the great majority of the patients suffer from AIDS.

Indonesia, 1998 - A beggar washed his children in a polluted canal.
my fav, an one leg and one arm man, keeping his family, trying best to care for them, his family love him for who he is too..

Bosnia, 1993 - Ethnic cleansing in Mostar. Croat militiaman fires on his Moslem neighbors.

Bosnia, 1993 - Mourning a soldier killed in the civil war.

Rwanda, 1994 - Survivor of Hutu death camp

.
Chechnya, 1996 - Chechen rebel fighting along the front line against the Russian army.

India, 1993 - Untouchables working in a brick factory.

for more photo n his website:

* my fren ask if i cried when i watch tis video, i said no, may b bcuz the fact is too dramatic, and his shot dramatic too, in fact, all tis r real in our life..

Clock Wise or Anti-Clock Wise

always rmb when u take out ur car tyre, you shld unscrew it anti-clock wise, like how u open ur mineral water bottle, or open ur water tab.
just really dunno y last week after sponspor sponsee (something like cell group for new believer) and yam cha, while on the way back, my sis' car tyre punctured, we all (me, my sis, shelly, jin sun and andrew) tried our superb best wit our tyre punctured experience to unscrew the tyre CLOCK WISE! we called fren for help, see if they have any equipment to unscrew it, CLOCK WISE, 2 of us even jump on the screwdriver, CLOCK WISE (we thought y the screws were so tight, it must be screwed wit driller).. -_-
thank God shelly called her dad for assistance, her dad said, the back tyre shld be anti-clock wise, where the front one is clock wise, dunno y it's diff direction, but it' really works! -___-##
while on our way back home, after we realize many things r open in anti-clock wise, all of us felt so tak puas hati, how can we insist to turn clock wise, nvr thought of the other way round, we were so "smart"..

* sometimes we thought we know everything but sometimes we dunno wat we need to know..

Commercial Shoot

today 6am need to reach office! 5am wake up, is hard for me somemore today is sat.. @_@ for a commercial shoot, wat i need to do is just playing back the music for the commercial.. mm.. thou i wouldn involve much in tis job, n tis video will be edited by previous editor n my head i think.. but i'll let myself learn something new..
we have bigger production team compare to previous company, they use P2 format (instead of tape), it's something new to me (thou is not new in tis industry), so i took initiative n ask the media guy (not sure if tis is the rite word).. after finish the P2 card, they will take out n slot it into laptop thru P2 drive n copy into our hard disc as data file, mxf format, (each take 1 clip) n then editor will convert it into editable format. (subject to wat software he use, according to the editor, currently there's no software can read mxf)
we work til 6pm++, back office at 7pm++ after packing up the stuff. thou is tiring to me but atleast i learnt something new n oso... earned some money..hehe..i didn expect i'll get pay, tot is part of my job.. =)

What is P2?

P2 Cards are Memory cards in a PCMCIA format, roughly the same size as a credit card. P2 Cards house 4 high speed Secure Digital (yes, the same cards that digital still cameras use) laid out in a raid array. Currently in 2gb and 4gb sizes, an 8gb version will be released in the next few months. By being solid state and in a metal shell, the P2 cards are the most durable Video storage medium available. It's main competition, Sony’s XDCam Blue Laser, is a disc based format, which can't take even a fraction of the 1500g's of shock the P2 cards can, let alone scratches, dust, dirt, etc. By using SD cards, Panasonic has guaranteed an easy roadmap for future expansion, as normal high demand SD cards increase in size and decrease in price, so will the P2 cards. This relieves the sole burden (read cost) of Panasonic developing increased capacities in the future.
